A service overview and catalog of Unit Assessment Service provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub.
The Unit Assessment Service is a component of the campus Cyber Risk Management Program (CRMP). Under this program, all academic and administrative units review and update their unit self-assessment approximately every 2-5 years according to an established schedule based on unit risk level.
The Information Security Office's Assessments Team facilitates the unit self-assessment process, reviews all on-time assessments, and provides the unit with prioritized recommendations for improvement. Assessments not completed on time may receive less customized recommendations.
The value of the Unit Assessment Service is to provide unit Security Leads and leadership with information about cyber risks within their unit, along with concrete, prioritized recommendations for reducing the areas of highest risk. This supports unit leadership in their ability to appropriately plan and allocate resources to manage cyber risk within their unit.
The Information Security Office contacts units that are due to participate each calendar year. To ensure timely communication and all necessary access, units should verify that their Unit Head and Security Lead(s) are properly identified on the published Current IS-3 Unit Heads and UISLs list.
