DNS, DHCP and IP Addressing
A service overview and catalog of DNS, DHCP and IP Addressing provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub.
Campus DNS Services handles the Domain Name System (DNS) for Berkeley.EDU and its subdomains. DNS Services also assists in the assignment of Fixed DHCP addresses in some circumstances. DNS Services may also include these activities:
- Care and feeding of nameservers (both hardware and software),
- Registering IP addresses and hostnames for new network connections,
- Coordination of network connection moves,
- Changing assigned hostnames,
- Adding aliases and mail-forwarding records to existing hostnames,
- Creation of subdomains,
- Coordination with departmental DNS Administrators who have been delegated authority for their own (departmental) subdomains.
