BearGPT Curated Assistants (Pilot)

A service overview and catalog of BearGPT Curated Assistants (Pilot) provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub.

Description

BearGPT Curated Enterprise Assistants provides UC Berkeley departments and campus functions with a platform and consulting services to develop specialized, university-supported AI assistants. These assistants use curated, approved campus information sources to answer questions and support productivity and learning.

The service enables departments and university leaders to create secure, authenticated, UC Berkeley–specific assistants for internal use. These assistants may include P2 data. Approval for P3 data is expected in 2026; if your use case requires P3 data, contact the team for early-adopter consideration.

Assistants can be designed for the entire UC Berkeley community—currently all faculty and staff during the pilot—or for a targeted audience, such as a department intranet or a defined subset of the campus population.

For student-facing use cases, please reach out to the team for early-adopter consideration.

Built in partnership with UC San Diego, Assistants and chatbots use the UCSD TritonGPT AI platform. The pilot program — a collaboration between Berkeley IT and Berkeley People & Culture — gives departments a safe, managed and low-cost environment to test AI.

BearGPT Assistant and chatbot creators and maintainers must agree to curate the underlying data for their assistants to ensure accuracy, policy compliance and consistent grounding in official campus resources.
