Alumni Email Service

A service overview and catalog of Alumni Email Service provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub.

Description

The Alumni Email Service allows UC Berkeley graduates to use their @berkeley.edu email address after leaving the university. It is available to eligible graduates and former attendees who want to stay connected to campus, as long as they meet the responsibilities and requirements outlined in the Alumni Email Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Features

Configure the Gmail Mobile app to view email from multiple different accounts.
Organize your inbox with labels, tabs, and categories, and archive messages you no longer need.
Options: Accessible via the web, Gmail mobile app, or third-party email application. Note: Activity from POP email clients cannot be measured for the activity requirement.

Limits & Requirements

5GB storage maximum.
Activity Requirement: must maintain account activity within a six month period.
Accounts must abide by Terms and Conditions of Appropriate Use for bMail, which prohibits from sending unsolicited mass email.

Getting Started

If you have this service and wish to opt out, fill out this Alumni Email Service Cancellation Form.
To maintain access, you must use your account at least once every six months, stay below your storage quota (5GB) and meet the responsibilities and requirements outlined in the Alumni Email Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Service Details

Eligibility	All alumni who currently have access to the service remain eligible as long as they meet the responsibilities outlined in the Alumni Email Service Level Agreement (SLA). As of September 2024, all new graduates will be automatically enrolled in the Alumni Email Service.

Availability	This service is available 24/7, with support hours between 8am-5pm PST, excluding University holidays and curtailment periods.
Cost	This service is available for use with a UC Berkeley account.
