Getting Started

BearGPT Assistants (Pilot)
BearGPT is an AI chat platform curated with official UC and UC Berkeley information. It offers a range of university-sponsored AI chatbots designed to help employees navigate Berkeley's complex information ecosystem. This service is currently in a pilot phase and is open to all faculty and staff.
Campus AI Sandbox (BETA)
The Campus AI Sandbox is a web-based tool that lets you use leading AI models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and others, all in one place. It's built on the LibreChat open source software package and designed to help with tasks like writing, coding, research.
Google Gemini
Google Gemini for Education is included as part of Google Workspace, Google Gemini is Google's conversational AI Assistant which allows you to create comprehensive reports, build custom AI experts, turn documents into podcasts with audio overviews using NotebookLM, proofread, code, have free-flowing conversations with Gemini Live, and connect with Google Workspace apps such as Google Drive, among others. Includes limited access to Deep Research. Google Gemini includes enhanced data protections covered under the University of California Terms and Conditions. Your data will not be used to train AI models and will not be included in other public AI query results when you use these tools while logged in with your Berkeley account.
Google NotebookLM
Google NotebookLM is an AI-powered tool designed to help users synthesize information from multiple sources. It allows users to upload documents and notes, then interact with an AI assistant to ask questions, summarize content, and generate insights. Ideal for research, learning, and content development.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat
Microsoft 365 Copilot enables users to interact with an AI assistant to ask questions, summarize content, and generate ideas through a conversational interface.
ChatGPT Education - Initial release with limited availability
ChatGPT Education is a premium subscription that provides access to an interactive, generative AI assistant with enhanced data protections under the University of California Terms and Conditions. When you use ChatGPT Education while logged in with your Berkeley account, your data is not used to train AI models and is not included in public AI query results.
Google AI Pro for Education - Initial release with limited availability
Google AI Pro for Education is a premium subscription that enhances AI capabilities by giving users access to stronger models, embedding Gemini within Google Workspace applications, and allowing NotebookLM data to be used alongside Gemini for smoother workflows. Google AI Pro for Education includes enhanced data protections covered under the University of California Terms and Conditions. Your data will not be used to train AI models and will not be included in other public AI query results when you use these tools while logged in with your Berkeley account.

Service Details

Eligibility	For Faculty, Staff, & Students Google Gemini and Google NotebookLM are included as part of Google Workspace. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is available foruse with a UC Berkeley account. Campus AI Sandbox (BETA) is available to faculty, staff or student workers. It is not available generally to students or for academic work at this time. BearGPT is currently in a pilot phase and is open to all faculty and staff. ChatGPT Education and Google AI Pro for Education are available for purchase for employees. Currently in initial release with limited availability.
